Russia: tough regulations for GMOs are planned

Russia will soon adopt a tough legislation to limit the cultivation, import and use of GMO in feed production for livestock, according to the Russian Minister of Agriculture, Nikolai Fyodorov. He stated that GM products are still making their way to the Russian market, and this issue is prepared to be settled on the legislative level, All about Feed reports.
 

In Russia, there is no official permission to grow agricultural products that are genetically modified, but there are still a lot of crops like corn, rice, soybeans, and feed products that contain modified genes, according to the ministry. A special working group is going to develop the draft projects to toughen the control measures. They are working in several directions, in particular in crop raising and feeding of livestock.
