Rite Group conference in London

by Redaktion (comments: 0)

The Rite Group Conference will take place in London on 10 October 2012. The Rite Group is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to "Reducing the Impact of Textiles on the Environment". Founded in 2007, it provides information to stakeholders in the textile industry, media and other external organisations on how to minimise the negative environmental effects of the production, use and disposal of textiles and clothing. It currently does this through its annual conference, which takes place in London every year. The event provides a forum for different sectors of the global textile industry to share views and best practise and is based on the facilitation of discussions between industry, retail, academia, media, scientists, designers and government, according to the Rite Group. Lord Peter Melchett, Policy Director at the Soil Association, is the latest speaker to be announced for the conference. He will be providing details of the Soil Association’s forthcoming ‘Have you Cottoned on Yet?’ campaign. The campaign will gather evidence which shows that organic cotton is the long-term goal for brands wanting to offer sustainable textiles. Joining Lord Melchett at the conference will be a host of other names like Mike Barry, Head of Sustainable Business, Marks & Spencer and Pavel Misiga, Sustainable Consumption, European Commission. More information about the conference is available here: http://www.ritegroup.org/book-conference.html
