Italy: Winners of the international BIOL competition

The winners of the 17th edition of the internaional BIOL prize have been announced. The prize is dedicated to the best organic extra virgin olive oils in the world. “S. Andrìa” by Sandro Chisu from Sardinia, Orosei (Nuoro) has won the prize again. In the competition, “S. Andrìa” was selected among more than 310 oils from 18 countries.
 

The Apulia region won many prizes:  “De Carlo - monovarietal coratina” from Bitritto (Bari) was named the second best oil, and “Marcinase oppure Olio di Maria” from Molfetta (Bari) by Gregorio Minervini together with “Primo” produced by Frantoi Cutrera of Ragusa (Sicily) were in third place. The winners of BiolKids also come from Apulia -  ”Eccelso” produced by  Agrolio (Andria). The BiolPack prize for the best combination of label and packaging assigned by experts for communication and consumption went to the company “Nicola Pantaleo S.p.a.” (Fasano-Bari). The award ceremony was held at the Chamber of Commerce of Bari on occasion of the opening meeting “Organic Week in Puglia” on 26 March 2012 . All BIOL organic olive oils will be published in the BIOL catalogue  that will be presented at major international fairs and exhibitions like Sana (Bologna) and BioFach (Nuremberg).
