Italy: Yoghurt with Fairtrade ingredients launched

Fattoria Scaldasole has launched two yoghurts with Fairtrade ingredients. The new products come in 250 g packs and are the first yoghurts in Italy containing Fairtrade ingredients, Greenplanet reports. The company has been producing organic and biodynamical yoghurt in Italy since 1987, and now further value is added with Fairtrade coffee, bananas and cane sugar. The decision came as a natural step after offering organic and biodynamial products not only for food safety, but also for social aspects for the people living in poor countries.

The coffee comes from the coopperatives HOAC (Papua New Guinea), La Florida (Peru), Comsa (Honduras), bananas are from El Guabo (Ecuador) and cane sugar is supplied from Manduvirà, El Arroyense and Montillo (Paraguay). The two new yoghurts have been available in Italy since mid-October at NaturaSì, Auchan, Iperal, Il Gigante, Alì, Despar, Finiper, Cadoro, Coop and Carrefour.
