UK: Natural Products Outstanding Achievement Award

With nominations now closed, Natural Products magazine has announced the shortlist for the 2011 Natural Products Outstanding Achievement Award. This year, for the first time, Natural Products readers were invited to join in the selection process by nominating who they’d like to win. It is now left to members of the UK’s natural and organic trade to cast a final vote to decide the overall winner. The award, sponsored by Pegasus PR, celebrates the achievement of an individual, or organisation, whose contribution to the natural and organic sector has been genuinely transformational.

The winner will be announced at the Natural & Organic Awards, taking place on 3 April at 2011 at the Olympia Conference Centre after the close of business on the first day of the Natural & Organic Products Europe trade show. The shortlist is as follows:

Wendy Atkinson, founder of Modern Herbals and chair of the National Association of Health Stores
Alex & Kim Barani, co-founders of Kinetic
Steven Jacobs, research and development officer, Organic Farmers & Growers (OF&G)
Peter Kindersley, owner of Neal’s Yard and Sheepdrove Organic Farm
Lynn Lord, managing director, Natures Aid
Craig Sams, co-founder of Green & Black’s and Judge’s Bakery
Roger Saul, owner of Sharpham Park
Alex Smith, founder of Alara Wholefoods (picture)
Dr Mariano Spiezia, formulator and scientific director, Inlight Organic Skincare
Dr Jen Tan, medical director, A. Vogel

Past winners of this award include: Patrick Holden, director of the Soil Association; Sue Croft, director of Consumers for Health Choice; Sandy Constable, retailer; Jan de Vries, world renowned naturopath; Graham Gunn, managing director, The Health Store; Harriet Lamb, director of the Fairtrade Foundation; Bill Jordan, Co-founder JordansYOU; and Tim Powell, Bill Henry, Community Foods.
