UK: Fairtrade Foundation - Show Off Your Label

by Redaktion (comments: 0)

On 28 February 2011 from 8.00 am until 8.00 pm, shoppers will see performers pose in a shop window to highlight the start of Fairtrade Fortnight. They will be wearing little else other than the Fairtrade label. The stunt kicks off the two-week campaign from 28 February 2011 to 13 March 2011 by the Fairtrade Foundation, themed "Show Off Your Label". All over the UK, Fairtrade fans will support a fair deal for producers in the developing world. As many as 12,000 events will be held and a specially devised Facebook challenge will launch at facebook.com/FairtradeFoundation.

Each day, people in the UK will take part in a different, fun challenge such as creating a Wacky Fairtrade Banana Smile, Outrageous Fairtrade Label Waving, painting a Fairtrade Chocolate Moustache, Random Acts Of Fairtrade Kindness, Fairtrade Your Mum, Create A Fairtrade Fruit Inspired Hat, and a Fairtrade Ice Cream Pile Up. Every challenge will be launched by a different celebrity such as comedian Alistair McGowan, TV presenter Fearne Cotton, Zoe Ball and her husband Norman Cook, model and presenter Lisa Butcher, and Fast Show star Mark Williams, and comes with a prize like a trip to the Dominican Republic to visit Fairtrade certified banana farmers; a flower arranging lesson with top florist Simon Richards; a week’s holiday in Sri Lanka, and much more. More than one million people are expected to take part in the games.
