Africa: Organic Conference in Zambia

by Redaktion (comments: 0)

In 2012, Zambia will host the second African Organic Conference. The conference will be organized by OPPAZ in collaboration with local and international stakeholders. OPPAZ has appointed a committee to initiate the process. The first meeting of the committee to develop the roadmap for hosting the conference took place on Friday 16th July 2010 at the OPPAZ offices. Several organizations such as the African Union and the newly established Southern Africa Participatory Guarantee Network (SAPNet) have indicated willingness to be partners in this conference. OPPAZ extends its invitation to other interested entities to participate and support the process. The conference is expected to assemble approximately 500 participants, including representatives from governments, inter-governmental institutions, UN agencies, national and international NGOs, private sector, universities, and research institutions.

The Ghana Organic Network (GOAN) has recently launched its official website. There is no doubt that the development and launch of this valuable information tool will raise public awareness of organic agriculture and promote its multiple benefits both inside and outside the country.
