USA: Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop opens second location

On 23 August  2010, Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop, Beverly Hills’ gourmet salad eatery serving custom-made premium salads, wraps, and sandwiches, will open its second location. Named one of the city’s best new restaurants by Los Angeles magazine, Greenleaf continues to provide diners with fresh, locally grown ingredients, flame-grilled proteins, and countless affordable options to support a healthy lifestyle. Greenleaf’s newest outpost will reflect the needs of the neighborhood’s largely corporate clientele in Century City, featuring a long communal table and bar seating for 40 guests in the inviting indoor space, and an outdoor patio with grass-green tables and chairs with seating for 30 additional diners under hanging umbrellas. Time-pressed professionals can call ahead to pick up their custom-made meals curbside on Century Park East, grab prepared Greenleaf To Go items near the counter, and place their lunch and dinner orders online. The new 2,400-square-foot (220 square meters) space will also offer bicycle delivery to the surrounding buildings.

“We couldn’t be more excited to open our second Greenleaf location in Century City,” owner Jonathan Rollo says. “This area is the perfect place for us to share our fresh, affordable, and convenient food with the busy customers in the surrounding buildings. We hope to inspire healthier, more balanced lifestyles with every customer we serve here.” Rollo and Corporate Chef Kristi Ritchey’s commitment to wellness is reflected in their use of organic and local ingredients in Greenleaf’s gourmet, made-to-order salads, sandwiches, and wraps. Guests can choose from signature items such as the Antioxidant Orchard Salad,  Lemongrass Chicken Salad, or  Buffalo “Wangs” Lite Salad available for 10 US$ each. A selection of grilled pizzas and entrées, recently added to the Greenleaf menu, round out the salad-centric offerings. Guests can enjoy a wholesome take on pizzas topped with fresh ingredients on a whole wheat tortilla, including the Wild Mushroom and Truffle Pizza and Ritchey’s rotating seasonal pizza (9.95 $). Hot entrées and sides, such as Fresh Grilled Salmon with Side Salad and Green Lentils (14.95 $); Baked Sweet Potato Fries (3.50 $); and a housemade Turkey Burger on a Five Grain Breadbar Bun (10.95 $), are also offered for nutritionminded customers looking for a guilt-free indulgence.

Greenleaf’s focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients and sustainability is also reflected in the environmentally conscious construction of both locations. Design elements incorporate recycled and compostable materials and green energy initiatives to create an eco-friendly environment. The Century City outpost will echo the “modern farm stand” concept of the original, incorporating décor elements by SF Jones Architects; eco-friendly features such as locally made bamboo wood tables and chairs made from sustainably grown wood, energyefficient light fixtures and appliances, tempered and tinted glass to reduce solar heat gain and air conditioning load, and zero-VOC paints; and cheery earth-toned colors inspired by local California lettuce.
