Serbia: Severe weather has negative effect on raspberries

by Redaktion (comments: 0)

Torrential rains and hailstorms have had a profoundly negative impact on the raspberry crop this year. It is predicted that export volumes of good quality IQF raspberry – conventional and organic – could be reduced by as much as 50 % this season. Zadrugar's raspberry season started in the middle of June and for the first two weeks the received quality was only suitable for pre-cooled raspberry destined to the big European juice concentrate producers. Those were able to force prices down.

Zadrugar's organic project is normally certified for over 90 hectares, and the company would be pleased to if they succeeded to export half of this quality as IQF whole and crumble qualities. Harvest period will continue until the end of July.
