BioFach America 2010

by Redaktion (comments: 0)

The organic and natural products sector will meet again in the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center from October 14 to 16, 2010. The Natural Products Expo East and BioFach America will be even more varied and interesting in 2010. The annual general meeting of the Organic Trade Association and All Things Organic will take place in parallel in Boston for the first time. Everything will focus on the market for organic and natural food, drinks, natural cosmetics, natural textiles and pet supplies for the some 190 exhibitors at BioFach America and the 20,000 trade visitors expected at the three events. The display area is already virtually booked up. (Picture: products on display at a former edition of BioFach USA)

According to the Organic Food and Drink Retailing US Report 2009 by Mintel, sales of organic food remained steady from mid 2008 until the end of the first half of 2009. The total market for organic and natural products grew by 5.3 % to 26.6 billion US $ for 2009. Both Mintel and OTA expect further growth from 2010 onwards. Despite the economic crisis, a consumer survey in the USA in 2009 showed that 73 % of households with children occasionally bought organic products, and 63 % cooked more at home, mainly with fresh ingredients. A White House garden effect cannot be excluded: The president’s wife Michelle Obama is committed to natural gardening and healthy food.
