USA: CCOF provides new online organic resources

by Redaktion (comments: 0)

CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmers) has created two new website pages to provide easy access to relevant information and resources for people wanting to learn more about organic and sustainable food and agriculture. The Organic Resources page includes a comprehensive list of government and regulatory agencies, research organizations, publications, ag advisors and other reference tools for consumers and new and existing farmers. Also on the Organic Resources page is a link to eOrganic, a new site for farmers, ranchers, agricultural professionals, certifiers, researchers, and educators seeking reliable information on organic agriculture, published research results, farmer experiences, and certification. The website aims to provide the most current and accurate organic practices available as well as foster communication among members of the organic community.

Tools featured on the eOrganic site include feature articles on industry trends, beginning to farm, and more technical information for advanced organic producers; an "Ask the Expert" tool  where individuals can direct questions to and receive email responses from the eOrganic community of agricultural experts; and short video segments from farmers across the USA that highlight organic agricultural practices such as weed control management, cover cropping, sustainable tillage practices, and marketing strategies. The site is also anticipating the development of online short courses, webinars, and additional opportunities to connect with other organic practitioners and service providers. In addition to the tools found on the Organic Resources page, CCOF's new Sustainable Agriculture Resources page provides a full listing of organizations leading the sustainable food movement as well as information on farmers' markets, integrated pest management tips and research, and farmer-to-farmer communication tools.
