Australia: BFA organic roadshows 2010

by Redaktion (comments: 0)

BFA are taking the message of organics out with their organic roadshows 2010. As well as the roadshows themselves and the networking dinners, the 2010 program of events will include five workshops that focus on the certification of small-scale growers, and four tailored workshops in value-adding for organic food and cosmetics processors, manufacturers, retailers and marketers.

The roadshows are one-day events featuring trade displays and presentations by a selection of speakers with expertise in various aspects of organic production. BFA’s networking dinners draw together producers, retailers, exporters, wholesalers, processors and marketers, keen to share information, energy and expertise. Networking dinners will be held in each major capital city plus in conjunction with some regional roadshows.

The five certification workshops throughout 2010 are free of charge and are realised to assist anyone seeking information on the organic certification process, however with a focus on supporting small-scale growers. The Organic Growers of Australia (OGA) Small Producer Program is Australia’s first certification program to specifically cater to the needs of the small-scale producer. Growers certified under this program have the benefit of reduced costs and simplified certification processes due to fewer requirements for servicing smaller domestic markets. Value-adders in organic will also have their own tailored workshops for the first time this year. These half-day value-adding workshops held in capital cities along the east coast will feature talks and forums with high-profile organic food manufacturers, cosmetics processors and marketing specialists.
