London: Ehical fashion at Fashion Week

by Redaktion (comments: 0)

Bel Esprit members will present their fall 2010 collections during an exclusive showing at the Amaka Showroom in London on February 19, 2010. Bel Esprit members represent high end, chic fashion produced with respect for the world and its inhabitants. Elena Garcia’s couture fall collection is inspired by the 1920’s bohemia, as well as by the film The Last Emperor, and is all made in London, sustainably and ethically. Designer Linda Row draws her inspiration from all artistic sources and incorporates her love of texture in the pieces she crafts. Her fall collection is made in organic British tweeds, lined in organic cotton fleece, teamed with wild silks. Boutique Ethique collections evolve following the slow fashion movement and adhere to ecological principles. Emesha combines draping with cutting edge tailoring. The round shape represents the “whole” in many cultures.

Tammam infuses contemporary style with inspiration from the 30’s and the 40’s. The Miksani label features fair trade chunky mohair jumper dresses, organic cotton jersey tunics with chiffon panels and alpaca jumper dresses and sweaters hand knitted in Peru by World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) certified producers. The soft alpaca wool is farmed organically and un-dyed, ensuring it remains as environmentally friendly as possible. Members of the Bel Esprit showroom exhibit their collections to buyers and fashion professionals around the world, providing a menu of marketing, sales and distribution services to help designers reach their target audience, enter international markets and build their business.
