Italy: Some data revealed at Sana

by Redaktion (comments: 0)

The female population has decided to invest energy, time, and professionalism in the organic sector in Italy – 25 % of organic producers in the country are women. Organic entrepreneurs are also young people with a good education (50 % of those who produce organics are under 50 years of age and the same percentage holds at least a diploma), and willing to use new technologies like the internet (52 %). This was revealed at Sana, the international fair for natural products held in Bologna, Italy. The fair was already in its 21st edition, and  this year’s motto was wellness. The fair aims at promoting a good life and new lifestyle habits that change, Greenplanet reports.

The Permanent Observatory on Consumption, which was created three years ago by Sana and is directed by Giampaolo Fabris, a professor at the University San Raffaele, has found that consumer are getting used to the idea that low prices can also bring low benefits. Ethics are becoming important for the quality of products, from raw material to waste. Eco-sustainability, fair trade and organic food are no longer concepts in which there is a sense of sadness and pauperism. According to professor Fabris,  time is ripe for a breakthrough on a large scale for ecological consumption in Italy. 1060 exhibitors arrived to the fair, offering 1060 spots for ecological, organic, fair and natural living. Besides conferences and debates, an anti-waste system for houses was presented, as well as eco-friendly products for children.
