Australia: Aboutlife settles in to Bondi Junction

Aboutlife is now buzzing in its new location in the former Macro site in Bondi Junction in Sydney, Australia. The new owners, sisters Jodie Stewart and Tammie Phillips, acknowledge that the Bondi store has many loyal customers that have shopped there for as long as twenty years. “Macro Bondi Junction was one of the pioneering stores of the organics movement in Australia and the demand created by their customers helped spear-head that”, says Jodie. “We respectfully intend to not make drastic changes to the grocery offering until we understand well what these important customers want from us.” The store however now is brimming full of products – about double what was previously on offer.
 

The new café menu is delighting locals who enjoy delicious home-cooked wholesome food with restaurant quality presentation but prices the average family can afford. A barista is making organic free-trade coffees. Vladia Cobrdova who has been working for aboutlife in all parts of the business for over five years is the new store manager at Bondi Junction. She is excited about her move to the Eastern Suburbs and is enjoying meeting both the regular and new customers and being a part of the next exciting phase in this historic store’s life. The news of the purchase has been welcomed by those thousands of Sydneysiders who shop with a conscience.
 
The store was opened in the middle of June on 550 square meters and carries about 7,000 lines of which 70 % are organic. A major part of the business is the catering department – the company will deliver all over Sydney. Aboutlife focus on healthy, organic and delicious food, with full grocery and fresh produce departments. There is also a naturopathy section, the 'lifestyle centre' with lots of natural beauty products and a naturopathic dispensary. Additionally, the store stocks products that are difficult to find, and doesn’t sell anything with artificial ingredients.. Aboutlife opened a store in Rozelle/Sydney 15 years ago, which has been a buzzing hub of the community since then.
