Australia: Roadshows 2009

by Redaktion (comments: 0)

The BFA Roadshows have received excellent feedback from attendees over the past years, and are regarded as an essential tool in assisting industry communication in a period of sustained growth. Travelling through regional and metropolitan centres in six different states and territories, the roadshows bring speakers with practical knowledge to all with an interest in organic food and farming. Speakers include both A-Grade organic farmers who have done the hard yards and are willing to share their knowledge with other growers, as well as respected researchers and experts in their fields such as soil health, various farming applications, and more. This year, following popular request, roadshow dinners – social events which encourage knowledge sharing and networking - will be added to the agenda. (Picture: Queensland, Australia)

The BFA Roadshows are a simple, accessible and in some cases, only, opportunity for producers and others to gain insight into certified organics in their region. Attendees learn first-hand how industry is progressing, hear tips from successful stakeholders, and become familiar with supply chains and what is involved in going organic. At a time when sustainable industry growth depends on networking, education and collaborative information, the BFA sees its roadshows as an essential tool in organic advancement. In addition, the roadshows connect BFA with its grass roots. A separate meeting/ dinner allows BFA Group members to meet with the chairman and BFA staff/ directors to offer their suggestions for the direction of their Co-op and industry's future. BFA has announced the 2009 BFA Roadshow Calendar, presenting events starting May 12 and ending November 19, 2009. The calendar is available here: http://www.bfa.com.au/index.asp?Sec_ID=150
