BioFach Congress: facts, trends and numbers

The BioFach Congress offers more than 100 events. As in the last two years, the focus in 2016 is on the theme  Organic 3.0 - supplemented this year by Action for more organic to make it clear that words must be followed by deeds, because evidence shows that organic makes a crucial contribution to solving global challenges like hunger, climate change and depletion of resources.

Lectures, discussions and presentations and much more – your days at BioFach are packed with events. The whole Congress programme is available at BioFach Congress. Visitors and exhibitors can visit the events without further registration or charge. We have compiled selected lectures and discussions in a separate article. We’ve put together some very interesting ones – so an overview of dates and times can be accessed here.

Hall plan - overview

Exhibitors

Of course, the character of the trade fair is determined principally by the exhibitors. The German companies are located in Halls 6, 7 and 9. You’ll find international companies in Halls 1, 2, 4 and 5.

New Products Stand

Newcomers and new product developments by established manufacturers are again located on the New Products Stand. You’ll find the 500 square metre area once again near the central entrance. Visitors can select their favourites among products in the various categories for the BestNewProduct Award. The categories include: fresh food, frozen food, dry products cooking & baking, dry products snacks & sweets, other dry products, drinks and non-food.

Experience Worlds

Three Experience Worlds feature once again: Wine, Olive Oil and Vegan. They are intended to show retailers with practical examples how these product groups can be best presented and sold in their stores. The trade fair confers two well known accolades: the Olive Oil Award and the Mundus Vini BioFach. The cooperation partner for the Vegan Experience World is the Vegetarierbund, the German vegetarian association. Its experts are on hand to advise visitors about vegan foods and how to market them. Well known vegan chefs demonstrate how simple it is to prepare vegan meals.

Made in Germany, Generation Future and NGOs

Young companies are a popular feature at BioFach: they present their innovations in Hall 9 on the “Made in Germany” stand. Because of the big demand, the stand, supported by the Ministry for Economic Affairs – the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft, is bigger than last year. The aim of the organizers is to help companies that are less than ten years old to get the best possible opportunities to sell their new products on the world market.

The job exchange and the special area “Generation Future” are also directed at the upcoming generation. It serves as a networking platform for students, young specialists, jobseekers and employers in the organic industry.

The people in charge want to draw greater attention to the special area created in 2015 for non-governmental organizations and initiatives. They have provided plenty of space for organizations close to the organic industry like Greenpeace, BioMetropole Nuremberg and BioFair to present themselves.
