Organized by the Organic Forum Japan, the Organic Lifestyle Expo (OLE) with the theme “Toward the realization of SDGs for sustainable development and promoting Organic 3.0” was held on 29^th and 30^th June 2017 at the Tokyo International Forum in central Tokyo.

Ageing population & food safety driving organic sales in Asia

The Asian organic market will witness 10% annual growth till 2020, largely owing to an increasing ageing population with greater life expectancy than before, as well as, widespread food safety concerns due to a slew of food scandals that have come to light in recent years.

Japan: Organic Lifestyle Expo with more space and exhibitors

The  second "Organic Lifestyle EXPO" / OLE will be held in Tokyo from July 28 (Friday) to 30 (Sun) at the Tokyo International Forum in central Tokyo, connecting to the contents and themes of OLE 2016.

Japan: organic supermarket "Bio c’bon" has opened in Tokyo

"Bio c'Bon" is an organic supermarket from France. The first store in central Tokyo opened on the 8th of December. The shop offers fresh foods such as fruit vegetables and meat, mainly domestic organic JAS certified agricultural products, processed foods and beverages, such as wine and cheese, seasonings and confectionery as well as natural/organic non-food products, among them body care, cosmetics and supplies for babies and children are offered. The French chain plans to expand in Japan.

The 1st Organic Lifestyle Expo/OLE organized by Organic Forum Japan was held on November 18th and 19th. The expo was a lively and very successful event and the largest of its kind held in Japan this year.

Tribunal gathers evidence of Monsanto´s ecocide

The Monsanto Tribunal was held in the middle of October in The Hague. A panel of five prestigious judges listened to witnesses from all over the world. Lawyers, farmers, mothers, health experts and scientists made serious accusations against the American chemicals and seed corporation Monsanto. The aim is to incorporate ecocide into international law. The People´s Assembly, that was held in parallel to the Tribunal, has already  “condemned“ Monsanto (watch the videos). Global and European organic technology platforms present their visions and strategies for organic food and farming research on Science Day, held on February 13, 2015 at the global organic fair BioFach in Nürnberg. The Technology Innovation Platform of IFOAM (TIPI) discussed the second draft of its vision and strategy for organic farming research and in particular its action plan.

Cotton Sustainability Seminar in Japan
