Lidl Switzerland doubled its organic sales in the Corona year 2020. Sales of vegan and vegetarian products also increased by 50 per cent. This is according to the retailer's sustainability report.

In 2019, the discounter promoted organic in two theme weeks, in 2020 the number was increased to three weeks. Lidl wants to continue to promote organic sales in the future and further expand the range of organically produced goods.

At the end of 2020, the share of organic products in Lidl's permanent assortment in Switzerland was 9.9 per cent. This is 0.4 per cent more than the discounter had originally set as its target for 2023. In 2019, the organic share was still 8.3 per cent. In 2018, it was 7.8 per cent.

According to the company, all Swiss organic products in the Lidl range meet the guidelines of the organic umbrella organisation Bio Suisse.
